This 1D analysis is based on cumulated acoustic density along parallel transects. It presents acomparative study of the usual geostatistical methods (based on variogram and covariance), and thetransitive method (based on covariogram). For each method the application includes: (a) thedetermination of the spatial structure; (b) the computation of the estimation variance of the acousticabundance, function of the intertransect distance and of the spatial structure. The consistencybetween the different methods is examined. Comparison ofvariances is also made with independentresults obtained previously from a 2D analysis of the acoustic density.
