Population structuring mechanisms in marine broadcast spawning species is still an open issue. While philopatric migration has been demonstrated for anadromous and coral reef fishes, there are few documented cases of natal homing in temperate marine fish species. In this study, we present behavioural and genetic evidence for philopatric migration in Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua L.) in the Kattegat-Skagerrak-North Sea area
