Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) in Icelandic waters are an important food fish in Europe and a mainstay of the Icelandic economy. Microsatellite analysis has revealed genetic discontinuities between cod in the north and south of Iceland (Pampoulie et al 2006). Barriers to gene flow are marked as black bars on the map
