In 2000 and 2001, 38 females of ovoviviparous redfish (Sebastes viviparus) collected in the Norwegian and Barents seas were examined to study their fecundity. Individuals were aged from otoliths. The estimated mean gonadosomatic index (GSI) was 4.9% (range 2.0-8.8%). Fecundity ranged between 1,900 and 29,000 eggs per female. The fecundity-length, fecundity-weight and fecundity-age relationships were estimated.
