Due to the next decline of cod stocks in the Barents and Norwegian Seas a problem of their management is especially actual now. Minimal biologically allowable level (MBAL) used for these purposes along with the present data includes data of post-war period of very low fishing intensity that overestimates the result. On the basis of calculations of cod population fecundity and coefficients of its juvenile survival depending on changeable hydrological conditions authors attempt to estimate safe, minimally allowable, and critical levels of SSB.
