Please note that this advice was replaced in December 2024 (ICES, 2024b and 2024c)

ICES advises that when the MSY approach is applied, catches from the western component should be no more than 8 480 tonnes and catches from the southern component should be no more than 969 tonnes. The advice is for the period 01 July 2024 to 30 June 2025.

The use of a combined TAC for the western and southern components of the stock prevents effective control of single component exploitation rates and could lead to the overexploitation of either component. ICES advises that management should be implemented at the stock component area level.
