Cod (Gadus morhua) in NAFO Subarea 1 (West Greenland Inshore Spawning Cod)

ICES advises that when the MSY approach is applied, catches in 2025 should be no more than 4 455 tonnes. Out of this, catches in NAFO divisions 1A–C should be no more than 2 151 tonnes, and catches in divisions 1D–F should be no more than 2 304 tonnes.

Cod in NAFO Subarea 1 is caught in a fishery comprising a mix of West Greenland inshore spawning cod, West Greenland offshore spawning cod, and East Greenland–Iceland offshore spawning cod outside the spawning season. This should be taken into account when defining management actions to avoid exceeding the advice for any of the stocks.
