EU request on the establishment of separate catch advice for Senegalese sole (<i>Solea senegalensis</i>) and sand sole (<i>Pegusa lascaris</i>) in ICES divisions 8.c and 9.

<p dir="ltr">ICES cannot provide fishing opportunities advice for Senegalese sole or sand sole in divisions 8.c and 9.a in 2025 or 2026.</p><p dir="ltr">ICES has reviewed the latest information provided by Portugal and Spain and identified that Category 5 precautionary approach advice could be possible if requested in the future. Furthermore, advice based on the maximum sustainable yield (MSY) approach might be possible but would require a representative index of biomass or abundance and either a full benchmark process or a review-level benchmark including a formal external review.</p><p dir="ltr">ICES has compiled the available catch, total allowable catch (TAC), and advice information since 2011 in Table 1.</p>
