Based on the most recent estimates of SSB (in 2009) and fishing mortality (2008), ICES classifies the stock as being at

risk of reduced reproductive capacity but being harvested sustainably. The fishing mortality in 2008 is estimated just

below Fpa. SSB increased until 2003 as a result of strong recruitments, including the record-high 1999 year class, but

has declined since. Recruitment of the year classes from 2003 onwards has been well below average.
