Herring (Clupea harengus) in Subarea 4 and divisions 3.a and 7.d, autumn spawners (North Sea, Skagerrak and Kattegat, eastern English Channel)

ICES  advises  that  when  the  European  Union  (EU)–Norway  management  plan  is  applied,  catches  in  2016  should  be  no  more than 555 086 tonnes, including 518 242t for the A-fleet.

ICES advises, under precautionary considerations, that activities that have a negative impact on the spawning habitat of herring should not occur, unless the effects of these activities have been assessed and shown not to be detrimental.
