Herring in Division VIa (North)

ICES advises on the basis of the agreed West of Scotland herring management plan that catches should be no more than 22690 tonnes. ICES  advises, under  precautionary  considerations,that activities  that  have  anegativeimpact  on  the spawning habitat of herring, such as extraction of marine aggregates and marine constructionon the spawning grounds, should not occur.
