Based on the most recent estimate of SSB (in 2009), ICES classifies the stock as having full reproductive capacity. In the
absence of defined F reference points, the state of this stock cannot be evaluated with regard to fishing mortality. The
outstanding 2001 year class contributed to marked increases in SSB in 2004 and 2005, and SSB has remained above 2.5
million tonnes since 2005. Fishing mortality in recent years is relatively low.
