The available information is inadequate to evaluate stock trends. The state of the stock is therefore unknown and there

is no basis for an advice.

In the absence of information on stock development, ICES recommends that effort should not be allowed to expand to

levels above the average for the years prior to the present absence of fishing activities (1999-2003), corresponding to

average landings of 1400 t, and that the fishery must be accompanied by mandatory programmes to collect catch and

effort data on both target and bycatch species.
