Norwegian special request on the production of spatial data layers of fishing in areas relevant to future extraction of deep sea minerals

report
posted on 2024-01-25, 08:02 authored by ICESICES

ICES collects and processes vessel monitoring system (VMS) and logbook data to produce standardized layers of fishing activity in the Northeast Atlantic. As a technical service to Norway, a set of spatial data layers has been prepared showing fishing activity (hours fished, total landings, swept area ratio) within the area being studied for potential deep‑sea mineral extraction. Standardized methods were used to produce the requested data layers1

The requested data data layers in the format requested by Norway can be accessed at https://doi.org/10.17895/ices.advice.21602769
