ICES advises on the basis of precautionary considerations that there shouldbe no directed fishery and bycatch should be minimized.
Due to its very low productivity, orange roughy can only sustain very low rates of exploitation. Based on the currentinformation,it is not possible to manage a sustainable fishery for this species.
