Progress Report of the Study Group on Monitoring Programmes for Contaminants in Sedimants

The main topics of discussion were the objectives raised by ACME as described below:

1) 'to clarify the objectives and contrast suitable sampling schemes for a) estimation of the average level in an area

and b) mapping the spatial distribution';

2) 'to describe appropriate methods of statistical analysis';

3) to plan for a meeting at ßurnham-on-Crouch in the spring of 1998;

4) to review and discuss the approach to sediment normalization.
