The meeting brought together modellers working on biogeochemical models and stock as-sessment fish and fishery models, i.e., at different trophic levels of the marine foodweb, to discuss their approaches. Two types of models were considered: 1) Coupled physical-chemical-biological models, which provide consistent descriptions of bottom up effects and included nutrient and oxygen dynamics, but which see the action of fish in terms of prescribed mortality rates. 2) Fish stock models without spatial resolution that see lower trophic levels in terms of prescribed prey biomass, or implicitly through data from surveys or landing reports.
