Report of the Working Group on Fishery Systems (WGFS)

The Working Group on Fishery Systems (WGFS) central assignment for 2006 was to review the results of research projects relevant to the fisheries systems. Both scientists in the working group and stakeholders invited to hear the project reviews were present. We briefly reviewed EFIMAS, COMMIT, TECTAC, CEVIS, PRONE, and UNCOVER. The bulk of the meeting was given to detailed presentations of the results of three recently completed Fifth Framework research projects: EASE, FEMS and PKFM. After this detailed review was completed the entire group, both scientists and stakeholders, had an extended discussion of what were the most important messages coming out of the project results.
