Report of the Working Group on Marine Sediments in relation to Pollution (WGMS)

The meeting began with an opening speech from the Director of the Institute, Dr Rogelio Pozo. San Sebastian was, in his opinion, one of the most beautiful cities in Spain and, in contrast to what foreigners may expect, a very safe place, where one can also walk safely on the street in the night. The Institute consists of two branches, one in San Sebastian, and one in Bilbao. The building of AZTI in San Sebastian where the meeting was hosted is only two years old. Dr Pozo gave a brief overview of the history and work field of the institute and referred to their website (http://www.azti.es) for people that required more detailed information. The welcome speech was concluded by wishing the meeting a pleasant and productive week.
