The principal tasks of the Worldng Group were to assess further the state of tho sole stock in the North Sea following a rapid in­crease in tho laot years in tho total fishing effort, and to consider tho situation in the plaice fisheries with a viou to ·l;ho effect of discarding fish at sea. Tho \forking Group ag-rood to consider tho sole fisheries first, o.nd to postpone on assessment of the plaice fioheries for onother mooting. It wao also a.greed to trout tho solo fisheries as a unit stock.
