Report of Working Group on Assessment of Demersal Stocks in the Baltic

At the 73rd Statutory Meeting of lCES in 1985, it was decided that the Working Group on Assessment of Demersal Stocks in the Baltic should meet at ICES headquarters from 14-23 April 1986 to:

i) compile fishing effort and catch-per-unit-effort data for possible use in assessments;

ii) assess the status of and provide catch options for cod stocks in the Baltic inside safe biological limits for 1987;

iii) estimate the distribution of stocks and the distribution of fishing effort within and between the fishing zones of the member countries;

iv) compile available data on stocks of turbot and brill;

v) summarise all available data on the selection factor for cod and recommended minimum mesh sizes with corresponding minimum fish lengths.
