Report of the ACMRR/ ICES Working Party on the Fishery Resources of the Eastern Central and Southeast Atlantic

The meeting was held in the University of La Laguna, Tenerife,· Canary Islands, from 29 March to 4 April 1968, following ir.unediately on the ICBS/FAO Symposium on the Living Resources of· the African Continental Shelf_ (25 - 28 March 1968). Representatives from ICl!S, FAQ and obso_rvers, including an obs_erver from SCOR, took part in tho discuo_􀍞ions (see Appendix 2).. .For purposes of analysis the Working Group considered separately the stocks in three regions - from the Straits of Gibraltar to Cape Blanco (20° North latitude); from Cape Blanco to the mouth of tho Congo River; nnd.frcm the Congo southwards {see Sections 3, 4, and 5). The Group also made a detailed study of the present available statistico and made proposals for the improved national supply to international aeencies (see Section 2) and some cenoral observations concerning the problem of mesh reculation, future research, including echo-surveys, etc. which are applicable to all areas {see Section 6 ).
