The Chairman, Ms Agneta Andersson-Nordstrom, opened the ICES/HELCOM Workshop and Training Course on Phytoplankton (WKPHYT), which was held at the Zoological Station of the University of Helsinki, Tvarminne, from 14-16 August 1997. The Workshop was organized by Maija Huttunen. Mr Norbert Wasmund was appointed rapporteur. The List of Workshop Participants is attached as Annex l to this report.
