Report of the Study Group on the Precautionary Approach to Fisheries Management

It was decided at the 84th Annual Science Conference (C.Res. 1996/2:14:19) that a Study Group on the Precautionary Approach to Fisheries Management [SGPAFMj, with experts to be identified by ACFM,in consultation with ICES Delegates, at its October/November 1996 meeting and to be chaired by the Chairman of ACFM, will meet at national expense at lCES Headquarters, from 5-11 February 1997, to draft a new form of ACFM advice incorporating the Precautionary Approach. Areport will be provided to ACFM at its meeting in May 1997. The ACFM Chairman will attend at Council expense.
