The Working Group on the Northwest Atlantic Regional Sea (WGNARS) is one of several regional sea programmes within ICES. WGNARS was formed in 2009 with a long-term objective of developing an integrated ecosystem assessment of the North-west Atlantic Ocean. In 2011, the short-term goal was to continue to develop the sci-entific support for an integrated assessment of the Northwest Atlantic region to support ecosystem approaches to science and management.
