Report of the Workshop on Survey Design and Data Analysis (WKSAD)

The Workshop on Survey Design and Analysis [WKSAD] metin Sète, France, from 9–13 May 2005 to: a) evaluate alternate analyses of surveys of a simulatedfish population and several real survey datasets; b) review the state of knowledge regardingthe effect of trawl duration on fish catch rate with a view to considering a reduction insample trawl duration; c) evaluate analyses of covariate data which could provide improvedprecision of abundance estimates; d) review methods for combining surveys of the same resourceusing different methods; e) evaluate the sensitivity of methods to estimate biologicalparameters in terms of analytical assumptions and measurement error.
