Study Group on the Use of Selectivity and Effort Measurements in Stock

a) validate the selectivity parameters obtained from mesh selection experiments against values obtained from other methods;b) perform case studies to assess the impact of post-selection mortality data on total fishing mortality;c) further develop the methodology for combining selectivity parameter estimates for different trials;d) investigate how information sources such as environmental variables and survey gear performance data or Bayesian priors can be utilised in stock assessment models;e) evaluate the implications for assessment and management of the stability or trends in catchabilities on varying spatial scales, with an emphasis on the relationship between fishing mortality for select stocks and fleet-based effort.
