The Chair of the ICES/HELCOM Steering Group on Quality Assurance of Biological Measurements in the Baltic Sea (SGQAB), A. Ikauniece, welcomed the participants and opened the meeting on Tuesday, 24 February 2004 at 9.00 hours. The round of formal introductions was made. Representatives from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Poland, and Germany were present at the meeting. The list of participants is included as Annex 1
