Working Group on the Assessment of Southern Shelf Demersal Stocks Part 3 of 3
Total landings from the Southern stock of hake by country and gear for the period 1972-1997 as estimated by the
Working Group are given in Table 6.1.1.
In 1997, total estimated landings were 7,600 t, which was 15% lower than the landings in 1996. Spanish landings
decreased by 13% and Portuguese landings decreased by 17% over all gears. In 1997, the TAC was set at 9,000 t, and in 1998 is 8,200 t.
