Workshop on Training for the Transparent Assessment Framework (WKTAF; outputs from 2022 meeting)

The Workshop on Training for the Transparent Assessment Framework (WKTAF) is part of a series of workshops that aim to familiarise and train experts in using TAF for assessment purposes. This first workshop was aimed at aiding ICES stock assessors in using the ICES Transparent Assessment Framework (TAF) to run an assessment in the programming language R.

The training focussed on how to successfully run a TAF assessment with the R package “icesTAF” with practical demonstrations on a step-by-step basis, and also included introductions to Git software and GitHub as a means for cooperation, minimising workload and achieving transparency. Since the use of TAF for stock assessment is a high priority in ICES, more workshops are planned in the next couple of years. The next online workshop will take place 13-14 September 2022.
