Workshop on the age estimation of sardine and sardinella in Northwest Africa
The Workshop on the Age Estimation of Sardine and Sardinella in Northwest Africa was held in Casablanca, Morocco, from 4 to 9 December 2006. The Workshop is one of a series of activities aimed at harmonizing the age interpretation of sardine and sardinella in the subregion.
The general objective of the Workshop was to standardize the sardine and sardinella age-reading methodologies and ensure common interpretation of the established age-reading criteria.
The activity was organized by FAO under Project GCP/INT/730/NOR “International Cooperation with the Nansen Programme: Fisheries Management and Marine Environment” funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) and executed in close cooperation with the Institute of Marine Research (IMR), Bergen, Norway. The National Institute of Fisheries Research (INRH) in Casablanca hosted the Workshop and was responsible for the local arrangements.
