The North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC) seeks ICES advice to identify and detail the collecting bag shrimp trawl fishery in the NEAFC Regulatory Area (ICES subareas 1 and 2) and to assess the impact on species caught and bycaught. In response to the NEAFC request, the report of the Workshop on the use of Collecting bags in shrimp fisheries (WKCB) aims to investigate the availability of information and data to fully evaluate the impact of the use of collecting bags on the retention of catch and bycatch (Part 1), e.g. size, and spatiotemporal patterns. Thereafter, Part 2 of the NEAFC request will build on this to examine the consequences of the use collecting bags on targeted fish stocks and bycatch fish stocks and the ecosystem.
