North Pacific Research Board and National Science Foundation partner in comprehensive study of eastern Bering Sea ecosystem

Th e North Pacific Research Board (NPRB) and National Science Foundation (NSF) are st udying the resp onse of the east ern Bering Sea shelf ecosyst em to climate change and sea ice loss. Th e program includes three fi eld seasons and two years of analysis. Th is project is based on NSF’s Bering Ecosyst em Study and NPRB’s Bering Sea Integrated Ecosyst em Research Program. Funds for the $52 million partnership include $16 million from NPRB, $21 million from NSF, and matching funds from NOAA, the US Fish and Wildlife Service, and the US Geological Survey. More than 90 federal, st ate, and university scientist s are involved.
